POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a part of a dynamic and innovated Career Services team, this position supports students through self, major and career exploration. The position entails career coaching, class presentations, workshops, outreach, and development of online tools and resources. It provides major and career development support for first year, sophomore and transfer students who are undeclared and/or still exploring majors and careers.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Career Services major and career exploration programs and services
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs, workshops, presentations, outreach, and classes that support major and career exploration
  • Provide 1:1 career coaching in the areas of self-assessment and major and career exploration
  • Supervise the public relations intern to promote programs, workshops and services
  • Manage communication and correspondence with students in variety of technologies including email, mailchimp newsletters and youcanbookme
  • Support the development and enhancement of resources for undeclared and exploratory students and advisors
  • Track undeclared students’ progress through major and career exploration and major declaration
  • Support the tracking and assessment of program and services
  • Participate in Career Services staff meetings and professional development opportunities

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to coach undergraduate students through self, major and career exploration process
  • Ability to work independently in a professional setting and is motivated, dedicated and self-directed
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Basic computers skills required

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES PREFERRED

  • Knowledgeable of self-assessments and how they related to major and career exploration (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, StrengthsQuest)
  • Career coaching, advisement, vocational or counseling experience
  • Supervisory experience

 

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

  • This position requires a commitment of 20 hours a week with a contract period August 15, 2017 – May 25, 2018
  • Remuneration $8,680
