Job Description

Graduate Assistantship at the Center for Service Learning and Community Service

Supervision will be by the Coordinator for the Center for Service Learning and Community Service (CSLCS).  This position will provide higher education experience, particularly in the areas of student affairs and campus life. There is much one on one interaction, team building, facilitating small group discussion, staff development opportunities, community outreach, and promoting the office through classroom and community presentations. The responsibilities and duties benefit the campus and larger community.

Responsibilities:

Assist coordinator with program development and supervision of student staff

Support service-learning faculty and students

Present to classes about service-learning and community service opportunities

Plan and facilitate monthly discussion sessions with Mentor Oswego and Adopt-A-Grandparent Group Leaders

Promote community service opportunities with student organizations, athletic teams, and residence halls

Present to student organizations, athletic teams, and residence halls about community service opportunities

Promote and monitor online system for submitting community service hours (Laker Life)

Develop and administer evaluations to students and community partners

Expand CSLCS recruitment and promotion through social media

Coordinate taking pictures and video at service sites, including administering photo release forms

Collect and archive newspaper articles, pictures, etc. about student service activities

Monitor and update office website

Compile office listserv, maintain office listserv and e-mail account

Respond to electronic requests for volunteers and service transcripts

Coordinate student volunteers and be liaison to community partners for one-time service events

Update LakerLeads database as needed

Assist students in finding service placements

Research new community service and service-learning placement opportunities

Assist in the coordination and implementation of office events and campus-wide programs

Prepare and maintain student payroll including timesheets and record keeping

Schedule student staff office hours and staff meetings

Be knowledgeable about Compass departments and their functions in order to provide students appropriate services, resources, and information

Other duties as assigned

 Requirements:

20 hours a week commitment

Contract period 8/22/16 – 05/12/17

Compensation:

6 credit hours graduate tuition waiver per semester

Stipend amount $3000 per year

Health insurance available
