“Communications and Webpage Support, and Undergraduate Advisement”:
Collect information, draft, edit, revise and publish advisement and event communications on the website and hard copy. Maintain social media accounts to ensure timely information to students. Assists to coordinate and improve faculty webpages. The GA will research, coordinate and review faculty webpages for consistency, accuracy and purpose, and make recommendations to update and improve pages.
This assistant must have working knowledge and understanding of NY State Teacher Certification requirements as well as major degree requirements, and college forms and procedures to assist and inform students for academic advisement. GA will assist with ALST certification exam safety net Attestation documentation. This assistant will work closely with the advisement coordinator and routinely interact with other offices on campus. This assistant will maintain regular advisement office hours and maintain advisement records electronically.
Graduate Assistant will assist:
*first year advisor(s) when no first year peer is available,
*advisees of advisors who are on sabbatical during the year,
*with transition, advisement and referrals for transfer students, and
*new department Academic Probation Advisors (set up meetings and help maintain records).
GA will assist to provide an advisory workshop for undergraduate students in the department on topics such as: Using SmartBoards; Common Core; Teacher Certification Exams: edTPA, EAS, ALST; Certification Application Process; Using Tk20 (required SOE electronic portfolio system).
Background: successful completion of an education major through student teaching highly recommended. This position requires strong office technology and experience.
