Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position supports the coordination of civic engagement programs, events and services. This position will provide higher education, program development and supervisory experience. The responsibilities and duties benefit the campus and larger community.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support programming and events related to civic and political engagement
  • Assist coordinator with program development and supervision of student staff
  • Organize and promote programming for Constitution Day
  • Develop and execute events, programming and outreach focused on voter registration and engagement
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners to promote and organize programs
  • Develop website and social media content for civic engagement
  • Promote civic and community engagement including social media, tabling and outreach
  • Coordinate taking pictures and video at programs and events to promote and celebrate programs
  • Assist students and student organizations in developing civic engagement programs and events
  • Support the office communication with stakeholders including website, phones, email, listerv and drop-in traffic
  • Support the tracking and assessment of program and services
  • Participate in Community Services staff meetings and professional development opportunities

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to work independently in a professional setting
  • Self-starter with a willingness to take leadership for project management and programming
  • Interest and experience in promoting civic knowledge and outreach

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES PREFERRED

  • Website development and maintenance
  • Event planning and programming experience
  • Supervisory experience

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

  • This position requires a commitment of 20 hours a week with a contract period August 15, 2017 – May 25, 2018
  • Remuneration $8,680
