Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position supports the coordination of community engagement programs, events and services. This position will provide higher education, program development and supervisory experience. There is much one on one interaction, team building, facilitating small group discussion, staff development opportunities, community outreach, and promoting the office through classroom and community presentations.  The responsibilities and duties benefit the campus and larger community.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support programming and events related to community engagement
  • Assist coordinator with program development and supervision of student staff
  • Organize and promote programming for “Days of Service” and act as liaison to community for service requests for one-time events
  • Plan and facilitate monthly discussion sessions with Mentor Oswego and Adopt-A-Grandparent Group Leaders
  • Promote community engagement opportunities to classes, student organizations, athletic teams, residence halls and other collaborators through presentations, workshops and outreach
  • Promote and monitor online system for submitting community service hours (Laker Life)
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners to promote and organize programs
  • Promote civic and community engagement including social media, tabling and outreach
  • Research and identify new community engagement opportunities
  • Coordinate taking pictures and video at service sites, including administering photo release forms
  • Assist students and student organizations in identifying service opportunities
  • Support the tracking and assessment of program and services
  • Participate in Community Services staff meetings and professional development opportunities

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to work independently in a professional setting
  • Self-starter with a willingness to take leadership for project management and programming
  • Interest and experience in promoting community engagement

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of campus and greater Oswego Community
  • Supervisory experience
  • Event planning and programming experience

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

  • This position requires a commitment of 20 hours a week with a contract period August 15, 2017 – May 25, 2018
  • Remuneration 6 credit hours graduate tuition waiver per semester and stipend amount $3000 per year
