Job Description

 

Position Description:

 

This position will provide higher education and event planning experience.  There will be a significant amount of independent work, as well as opportunities for facilitating small group discussions, community outreach, volunteer coordination, and classroom and community presentations.  The responsibilities and duties benefit the campus and larger community.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Constitution Day – organize and promote a speaker or panel discussion, table with educational materials, recruit and organize volunteers as needed for both
  • Voter Registration & Engagement – Develop and execute events and tabling focused on voter registration and education and election engagement
  • website development and publications
  • planning, publicizing and leading projects, events and programming
  • meeting with students, faculty and community groups including evening and weekend responsibilities
  • maintaining social networking sites
  • promoting civic and community engagement broadly

 

Desired skills and experiences:

 

  • knowledge of campus and greater Oswego Community
  • self-starter with a willingness to take leadership for project management and programming
  • interest and experience in promoting civic knowledge and outreach
  • event planning, publicizing and leadership
  • website development and maintenance

 

Schedule/Compensation:

 

  • A commitment of 20 hours a week for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters
  • Annual stipend of $8,680 (pro-rated based on start date)
