Job Description

Position Summary

The Innovative Instruction Technology Grants (http://commons.suny.edu/iitg/) are a competitive program open to SUNY faculty and support staff across all disciplines. IITG encourages development of innovations that meet the Power of SUNY’s transformative vision. The SUNY CPD IITG Graduate Student Assistant will assist with the management of the IITG process beginning with the request for proposals, promoting the RFP, collecting grant proposals, and the submission of final reports from the grantees. 

The IITG Graduate Assistant will help with grant administration and project management tasks including:

  • Basic web design
  • Promotion and marketing of program
  • Grant document management
  • Data management and creation of reports in grant management system
  • Communication with grant applicants and recipients
  • Assisting with grantee reporting compliance & dissemination of grantee outcomes
  • Assisting the committee that oversees the program (Innovative Instruction Research Council) 


    • Excellent academic standing
    • Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality.
    • Some flexibility to be able to travel
    • Must have 15-20 hours available per week 


  • Must be a full-time SUNY student currently enrolled in a graduate-level program 


  • Excellent written and verbal skills 
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze and resolve obstacles to successful completion of project
  • Ability to take the initiative as well to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks
  • Effective use of interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with web page development and email marketing (preferred) 
  • Highly organized with an eye for details and proof reading; 
  • Ability to meet deadlines


  • Applied learning experience in higher education grant administration and project management
